Rejadorada

Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to find myself in Toro - a small town located in the Castile y León region of Spain - which is one of the most exciting up and coming wine regions. Known for their Tempranillos, or Tinto de Toro as they call it, their wines show great terrior, while the microclimate of Toro helps to create rich dense wines with incredible extraction.
Unfortunately, I was only able to spend one night but did have the opportunity to visit Bodega, Rejadorada. Taken from their website:
The Rejadorada Wine cellars was founded in 1999, upon the initiative of a small group of wine specialists well versed in the Duero area. Their objective is to create limited and exclusive production of very high-quality red wines retaining the character and personality of the Toro wines.
The winery may be new, but the actual place that I was tasting at has actually been used for centuries to produce wine. If you are lucky enough to be in Toro for a night, I highly recommend a visit to this Bodega. The main reception facility, while far from the grapes and wine making, is located right in the middle of downtown and tucked into the side of an ancient street. Not to mention, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Upon entering, you are led down old winding stairs to an aging room where you can watch a short video on the wines of Toro:

While I was there, I was given the chance to taste all three of their wines. The good news is that they export about 60% of their entire production, so you too can find their wines without having to travel all the way to Toro to taste them.

- 2001 Rejadorada Toro Crianza - Spain, Castilla y León, Toro (3/1/2005)
Deep red with hints of purple. vanila, oak, Light spice, maybe black pepper and cherry, raspberry quality. Soft with round soft tannins and a soft acidity. Nice fruit without the oak overpowering it. Cherry, raspberrry, some tobacco, and a light background of black pepper? Even a bit of bacon fat as it warms in the glass. Best balance of the three wines I tasted from Rejadorada.
